Abandoned in the Texas Panhandle

Came across this restored, then abandoned train depot-turned restaurant in west Texas, that reminded me of Capt Spaulding's Chicken and Gas. Had to get a photo!

New Estimate Raises Civil War Death Toll

For over 110 years the number of the fallen have stood as definitive. Beginning with the overwhelming task of using surviving battlefield reports and documents, two former Union officers undertook the calculation of our American Civil War dead by hand in 1889. Their resulting number has, though questioned, has now been used to illustrate the horrific cost paid by both sides in our nation's second war for independence for over three generations. That toll is now revealed to be far greater, according to a new analysis of census data by Binghamton University historian J. David Hacker.

American Horror Story: The Asylum (mini review)

If you haven't indulged yourself with this horror series yet, do so and catch up on the first two seasons before Season 3 is released this fall. You'll be glad you did, unless you're easily put off by non-linear and truly twisted story lines, pretty dark themes and enough gore and sex to balance it all out. In the case of the later or if you're prone to nightmares, you might want to skip it. Sound like your thing, try a few episodes.

The series is a cleverly done anthology that uses returning cast members playing new characters in a new story while also adding new actors and characters each season. Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy and Dillon McDermott are unbelievable in both seasons. Each have confirmed they are returning to Season 3 titled, AHS: Coven that is currently rumored to be set in New Orleans and

The Rev gives it 3 skulls! What do you think?

What Do Dr. Seuss, H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King Have In Common?

The trio are all part of Australian Deviant artist DrFaustusAU's unique spin on classical children's author Dr. Seuss' (Theodore Giselle) style of illustration and some of horror's greatest books and films! The resulting mash-up is a whimsical re-imagining of horror classics and adult pop-culture references that we all would have loved as kids.

A project that began as spoof genre covers soon found life as full-blown re-imaginings of classic H.P. Lovecraft tales "for beginning readers," that include The Call of Cthulhu and The Tomb as fully illustrated, full-length versions of the classic tales as well as here to unknown new tales such  How Cthulhu Ate Christmas!

Check out his work and take time to catch up on the latest page of The Tomb while you're there! I have included a few of my favorites for you.

Greenwood Cemetery Set 1

Greenwood Cemetery Set 1, a set on Flickr.
My first set of photos from this beautifully tranquil garden cemetery in the historic Highland area in Shreveport. I have always loved this place and helped with cemetery cleanup days, scrubbing and bleaching monuments when I was growing up in Shreveport.

Sanitarium 2013 Red Band Trailer

Always fans of the creatively macabre, we're looking forward to this new horror anthology!
Shock Till You Drop explains the plot line like this:
“Three half-hour stories make up Sanitarium and each segment is based on particular patients of a mental institution. The episodes begins with Dr. Stenson, the primary physician at the Sanitarium, commenting on the recent arrival of a new patient. He will carry the viewer through the narrative of the insane patients – tales which led to their crazed states of minds. These accounts reflect hallucinations, imaginary voices and alternate realities, and will include themes of the paranormal, the unexplainable and the mystical.”
An impressive cast has been assembled that includes Malcolm McDowell, David Mazouz, Chris Mulkey, John Glover, Lou Diamond Phillips, Robert Englund and Lacey Chaber.

While digging through the photos and files of past hauntings, I came across this macabre collection of disturbingly chilling photos of both revenants and victims! They document the evolution of our little home haunt very nicely...
